Paying it forward: A true story

How far would you go to help a complete stranger? Would it matter what race or sex they were? What would you do if someone came to your door shaking, saying they were being chased by someone they didn't even know. Would it matter if it was a white female, or a black man?

This exact situation occurred last night. A knock on the door, and a young guy shaking at our door step. Would you of offered to help him? With some examination for a weapon, we decided to help out a stranger. How many of you have been down on their luck? Have any of you been homeless or thrown in a bad situation?

After many talks with the young man that showed up at our doorstep, we decided to give the guy a ride home. His home was an hour away. Looking in his eyes, and seeing him cry and shake, it was obvious he wasn't trying to scam us, and just needed a ride, or place until morning.

Many people claim they are Christian, but do not help out other human beings. I know I have been faced with being stranded at a place far from home, and had to walk home. I once walked across town on New Years Eve in the rain just to get home.

I have one question for you readers tonight, what would you have done if someone would have approached you the same way? You never knew who will be an angel in disguise. There is a saying, "you get what you give", I believe this to be true. Since my husband and I did a good deed, one day that favor will hopefully be returned to us. Are you willing to pay it forward? I hope you think twice if a homeless person  ask for changes, or someone asks for a favor.
